This series (now completed) was edited by Professor A.R.W. James and Professor Jane H.M. Taylor, then of the Department of French, University of Manchester, U.K.. Its title honours the memory of Eugene Vinaver, one of the most inspiring and wide-ranging scholars of his generation, and a major figure in French and European studies, who held the Chair of French Language and Literature in the University of Manchester from 1933 to 1966.
